This square honors Olga Bancic (1912–1944), a Romanian Jewish resistance fighter and the only woman among the 23 members of the 'Affiche Rouge' group. She transported weapons and served as liaison between resistance cells. Unlike her male comrades executed at Mont-Valérien, Olga was deported to Germany and beheaded in Stuttgart on May 10, 1944, leaving behind a young daughter.
