Zhou Enlai (1898-1976), future Premier of the People's Republic of China, lived in a small room of the Hôtel Godefroy here between 1922 and 1924 while part of the Chinese work-study movement in France. A bronze relief plaque marks the façade; the Chinese characters of his name were calligraphed by Deng Xiaoping, who stayed in the same building.
