Robespierre lodged with the Duplay family, carpenters, at this address from 1791-1794, at the nerve center of Jacobin power near the Tuileries and Jacobin Club. The 'Incorruptible' lived modestly here while orchestrating the Terror. After his arrest, he was wounded here before being guillotined. The original building was destroyed.
