American jazz saxophonist and clarinetist Sidney Bechet (1897-1959) lived at the Hôtel Beauvoir at this address. One of the first important jazz soloists, Bechet found fame in Paris in the 1950s with hits like 'Petite Fleur'. He became a beloved figure in French culture and is buried in Garches cemetery.
